Le Titi Parisien is a newspaper specializing in local crime stories, but in the year 1972, citizens are far more interested in French and international political affairs. The Vietnam War drags on against the backdrop of the Cold War. Prime Minister Jacques Chaban-Delmas faces growing public demands and ultimately resigns. As a result, Le Monde dominates the news coverage and attracts most readers, while Paris Match captivates audiences with its early front pages and glamorous coverage of celebrities. In short, Le Titi Parisien is facing serious financial difficulties!

One morning, the editor-in-chief, François Le Quellec, receives a letter from a grieving mother who has lost her son. In her letter, she explains that Inspector Jacques Dubon of the Paris investigative division has taken charge of the case.

At first skeptical, Le Quellec makes a few calls to his contacts within the police force. To his astonishment, he discovers that the story is true! Three children have disappeared in the span of a month—and the investigator as well! The tale involves ghosts and monsters, sounding almost too absurd to believe, but it has all the ingredients of a sensational story. It is incredible!
He decides to send his best team of journalists into the field. Their mission: solve the mystery as discreetly as possible. Under no circumstances can they attract the attention of reporters from Le Monde or Le Figaro. He is convinced that the public will be captivated by this story!

Your mission is simple: go to the last known location connected to the investigation, 1B Avenue d’Italie in Paris, and carry out your investigation. Inspector Dubon is waiting there to brief you on the case. According to city hall records, the property belongs to an elderly woman, Madame Bonniface Lessor… What a strange name!
